As part of our commitment to creating a positive and lasting legacy in the communities where we work, our E&P team—working within Network Rail’s Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE)—recently came together with all framework partners and our customer, Network Rail, to support a local primary school in need.
Following the setup of a new site office in Weald, Sevenoaks, for the NSCD project, the team identified a meaningful opportunity to give back to the community and get to know our new neighbours by supporting nearby Weald Community Primary School—a small village school struggling to maintain its facilities due to recent funding challenges.
Members of the SRE team dedicated three days to transforming the school’s grounds and facilities, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for students and staff. Their efforts showcased the best of what social value means in action: supporting local people and improving everyday spaces that matter.
Here’s what the team delivered:

- Rejuvenated a multi-use games area, with fresh line markings to support both recreational and sporting activities.
- Cleared vegetation along the bank near the staff car park, improving visibility and tidiness.
- Secured strip lighting in the School Hall, with the safe construction of a scaffolding tower.
- Refurbished outdoor storage cupboards
- Repaired and stabilised gate posts to the staff garden.
- Clearedpond area, making it safer and more usable.
- Installed a mesh framework and concrete slope to improve access near the Reception entrance.
- Filled potholes on nearby road improving vehicle access to the staff car park.
- Added new metal lockable storage cupboards in the entrance lobby area.
- Constructed a welly rack for children to store muddy shoes.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in your excellent collaboration to bring this project to life and supporting the local communities.
