What good feels like

Leaving a last legacy up North

Thank you to the A1 Wentbridge team for helping the local community and leaving a lasting legacy in West Yorkshire, following officially unveiling a new timber outbuilding, garden furniture and an enhanced garden area for Bless Community Support, in Upton on 11th August 2023.

In just three months our team and supply chain transformed the space as they resurfaced the area around the existing poly tunnel and installed new foundations for the outbuilding. They have also donated over £7,500 worth of equipment including tables, benches, toadstool table, stools, planting beds and a five-star bug house!

Bless Community Support provides several services to local people to enhance their physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being. From memory friendship groups to bereavement support, lifelong learning and environmental projects, Bless brings people together from all age groups, to enrich lives and benefit the community. Little Buds is just one of their  environmental projects: a community allotment space which was kindly provided by Upton Parish Council to Bless, for children and their families to explore, grow fruit & veg and to learn about and support the environment and wildlife. The new greener area will provide vital support for people living with Alzheimers/Dementia and will help young children learn about the environment.

Delighted with the team’s efforts and efficiency for helping to make a real difference to the communities who live nearby, National Highways North Yorkshire North East have awarded the team with a certificate for delivering outstanding customer service.

National Highways have created a short video showing the project in action and the  unveiling event.

Thank you to everyone involved in this important project.

It was great to see the project first hand and to understand the impacts that it will have on the local community. It is genuinely fantastic that we were able to get involved and help support you and your team in delivering your wonderful aspirations, I am sure it will be a fantastic facility for many people in the local area (and a little wider). I would like to add my thanks also to all involved in this, it was amazing to see the collaborative approach to making a genuine difference. You should all be very proud of what has been achieved

I would like to start with a massive THANKYOU! To all the contractors and contributors who were involved in making this project “Little Buds” a huge success and a becoming a legacy for our community for years to come. Every single person has been fantastic and so kind, we cannot believe how lucky we are to have you all to fetch this to life. The number of lives that will be touched by this project being fetched to life is off the scale. Parents are also looking forward to being outdoors and being with their children in a creative space that is just 5 * thanks to everyone’s donations to create this wonderful space. During the development of this exciting programme, you have all been so supportive and passionate just as much as we have and that means a lot to the BLESS family. The groundworks team were fantastic, and we cannot thank them enough for working so efficiently and so friendly also. The result more than we could ever wish for.
