Committed to improved health and safety – recognised for Don’t Walk By Award

We’re thrilled to share that Said Said Enany and Sean Coleman, both key members of our team working on the M25 framework, have been recognised with the “Don’t Walk By Award” within the One Community Healthier Highways initiative. This award, part of the partnership between Connect Plus and its supply chain, celebrates outstanding contributions to health and safety in the construction industry.

The Don’t Walk By Award is a vital initiative in collaboration with Steve Perkins Associates, aimed at improving health and safety for workers and raising awareness of health issues in construction.

Said, Project Manager and Sean, Quality Assurance and Improvement Manager  received recognition for their instrumental work on the concrete repairs at Bow Arrow Bridge, on the A282 where they introduced the use of a hydro-demolition robotic tool during renewal works. This innovation minimised disruption for road users, increased efficiency, and most importantly removed the need for manual hydro-demolition, which is a high-risk task. By reducing exposure to high-risk tasks, strenuous activity, and debris, they’ve helped to set new standard in health and safety for bridge renewal works.

Saed led the implementation of this technology across the project, while Sean ensured the innovation was capture, shared and adopted across the team. This is a great example of removing the human from the hazards. Applying new technology in this way to an appropriate task benefitted health protection as well as increasing the productivity of the job.

A huge thank you to both for your commitment to raising safety standards and driving continuous improvement. In high-risk operations like hydro demolition, there’s nothing more valuable than initiatives that eliminate the need for manual tools and remove people from hazardous environments.
